Felix Auger-Aliassime was crowned champion of the Eddie Herr International Championships on Sunday, a Grade 1 ITF junior event in Bradenton, Florida.

The 15-year-old Canadian saved three match points en route to a 6-3, 6-7(6), 7-6(3) victory over Aussie Alex De Minaur, ranked no. 21 on the ITF junior rankings. Auger-Aliassime is the first Canadian since 2011 to win an Eddie Herr title and the first to take home a U18 singles trophy.

This is Auger-Aliassime’s  second Grade 1 title of the season and fourth overall. The win moves him up to a career-high of no. 18 on the ITF junior rankings.

Other Canadian Eddie Herr highlights include:

Benjamin Sigouin: U18 singles and doubles semifinalist (with Auger-Aliassime)

Bianca Andreescu: U18 doubles semifinalist

Tiffany Lagarde: U16 singles semifinalist

Malik Bhatnagar: U16 doubles finalist

Rachel Krzyzal : U12 doubles semifinalist

Auger-Alissiame and Canada’s other top U16 and U18 players will next compete in this week’s prestigious Grade A Orange Bowl.
