Genie Bouchard is into the quarterfinals of her first clay tournament of 2017. The Canadian battled past world no. 305 Anhelina Kalinina of Ukraine in a tight 7-5, 6-4 second round contest to advance in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida.

Bouchard maintained her composure to win over 60 per cent of first and second service points in the encounter. Two aces and four breaks of serve in favour of the Canadian propelled her into the quarterfinals.
This is Bouchard’s second quarterfinal appearance of 2017. She previously made the semifinals of the Sydney International in January. This is Bouchard’s first time winning back-to-back matches since January.
The Canadian, playing in her first ITF tournament since Phoenix in 2012, will play either Victoria Duvall or Kaitlyn Christian in the quarterfinals.

Aleksandra Wozniak followed Bouchard’s match in Florida.
Wozniak is returning from injury and faced off against Olga Govortsova of Belarus in her second round match. The Canadian held a few chances to escape with a win but bowed out with a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 loss. Wozniak was up 4-0 in the third set and served for the match prior to Govortsova storming back.
