The Royal Dutch Lawn Association announced on Tuesday that the upcoming Fed Cup by BNP Paribas tie between Canada and the Netherlands will take place in Hertogenbosch at Maaspoort Sports & Events, in the Netherlands, and will be disputed on an indoor red clay court. The choice of surface was made by the Dutch team for the tie that will take place on February 9 and 10. The player nominations will be announced at a later date.

This will be the seventh time that the teams face each other, the last encounter dating back to 1987. Canada is currently ranked no. 17 in the rankings while the Netherlands are no. 10. The winner of this tie will earn a spot in the World Group I play-off tie scheduled to take place in April. This will be the first tie for Heidi El Tabakh as the captain of the Canadian Fed Cup Team.

Canada earned their spot in World Group II thanks to their 3-2 victory over Ukraine this past April. Considered the underdogs on paper, the Canadian team, composed of Françoise Abanda, Bianca Andreescu, Eugenie Bouchard and Gabriela Dabrowski, showed courage and determination to win the decisive match.
