The annual ITF Super Seniors World Team Championships starts up on Monday and runs from September 12-17 in Umag, Croatia, with Canada finding itself well represented. The nation will have teams competing in seven of the tournament’s eight team categories.
Returning to competition after a year’s absence is the Doris Hart Cup team. The over-80 women’s squad captured the world title for four consecutive years, from 2011 – 2014. Making up this year’s Doris Hart squad are Inge Weber, Evelyn Hustwit, and Muffie Grieve.
Another exciting team to keep an eye on is the men’s over-70 Jack Crawford Cup team. Kenneth William Dahl, Don McCormick, and Bob Bardsley are expected to make a competitive bid for the title. Last month, at the senior national championships in Ottawa, Dahl, of Vancouver, spoke about his expectations for Umag.
“We have a good team. Don McCormick will be our captain, and Bob Bardsley too from Vancouver – so it’s a West Coast trio,” said Dahl. “We think we’ve got a really strong team and a good shot.”
Listed below are the team lists representing Canada at this year’s competition.
