CELEBRITIES AND ATHLETES SET TO PARTICIPATE IN RAONIC RACE FOR KIDS

Tennis Canada announced Friday the list of celebrities and athletes slated to participate in the third annual Raonic Race for Kids. The participants will join world No. 8 Milos Raonic at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on November 25 for the fundraiser which will benefit the towards The Milos Raonic Foundation and Tennis Canada’s "Let's Make Tennis Matter for Kids" campaign.

The participating honorary captains are:

  • Carson Arthur – TV personality, outdoor design and lifestyle expert
  • Adriano Belli – Former CFL Star and Toronto Argonaut
  • Michael Boguski – Blue Rodeo keyboardist  
  • Patrick Chan – Three-time figure skating World Champion and Olympic silver medalist
  • Frank Dancevic – Member of Canada’s Davis Cup team
  • Dwayne De Rosario – Toronto FC player
  • Rob Faulds – Sportsnet personality
  • Karl Hale – Rogers Cup presented by National Bank tournament director
  • Curt Harnett – Three-time Olympic medalist in cycling and Chef de Mission for 2015 Pan-Am Games
  • Marnie McBean – Three-time Olympic champion and four-time medalist in rowing
  • Danielle Michaud, CityTV personality
  • Kelly Murumets, Tennis Canada president and CEO
  • Martin Reader – Former Olympic beach volleyball player
  • George Stroumboulopoulos – Host, Sportsnet’s Hockey Night in Canada 
  • Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir – Olympic ice dancing champions and three-time medalists 

The Master of Ceremonies for the event will be TSN’s Cabbie Richards.

The celebrities and athletes will act as honorary team captains for the fundraising teams which are made up of 6-8 individuals who have raised money to compete in the Raonic Race for Kids. The race itself is a series of fun, interactive, circuit-style challenges completed by each team and their honorary captain. Each team entered must raise a minimum of $5000. The top fundraising team gets the right to have Raonic as their team captain.

Also supporting the event are race sponsors McRae Imaging, Pizzaville, Toronto Star, National Bank and New Balance.   

VIP tickets are available for purchase for $50. Spectators will have the unique ability to see some of their favourite celebrities and athletes together in the same place, letting loose and competing with one another for a good cause. Online donations can also be made to support Raonic and his foundation.
