Sixteen-year-old Denis Shapovalov captured the second pro singles title of his career on Sunday, clinching the $25K Memphis Futures trophy in Tennessee.

A qualifier, Shapovalov had to win two matches to make the main draw, where he then ousted three seeded players en route to the title. In the final, the rising star defeated No. 2-seeded American Tennys Sandgren 7-6(4), 7-6(4). Sandgren is currently ranked world No. 286, compared to Shapovalov’s No. 551.

His victory comes just a few months after he took home his first-ever pro singles crown at a $10K Futures in Weston, Florida back in January. The six-foot lefty also reached the semifinals of the $50,000 Drummondville Challenger last month to become the first player born in 1999 to win an ATP Challenger match and the first 16-year-old to make a semifinal since 2014.
