Genie Bouchard has been eliminated from the Indian Harbour Beach ITF event in Florida after a 6-0, 6-3 loss to Victoria Duval.

Bouchard, the no. 1 seed in Florida this week, could not find consistent rhythm to trouble the American. This was most evident in the second set when each player continued to trade breaks of serve. Duval was able to close the match on a rare hold.

Bouchard bows out of her first clay court tournament of 2017 as a quarterfinalist.

Duval reached the quarterfinals by defeating Ajla Tomljanovic and Kaitlyn Christian earlier in the week.

The American, who is a year younger than Bouchard, reached a career-high ranking of no. 87 in 2014, the year which she was sidelined due to a battle with cancer. Currently at world no. 896, Duval is one of the many WTA players making a comeback in 2017.

Bouchard will continue on with her clay season in Istanbul for the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup. The tournament begins on April 24.
