In case you were busy watching the Super Bowl and not raiding Twitter like some of us (guilty), you may or may not remember Genie Bouchard getting overly confident in the Atlanta Falcons and making a bet with a fan, John.

As Genie later said: “Lesson learned. Never bet against Tom Brady.”

The New England Patriots made a historic comeback and Genie was left on the losing end of this particular bet. While many thought this was just a friendly joke and it wouldn’t get taken seriously, Genie made John’s dream a reality 10 days later and treated him to a Nets-Bucks basketball game in Brooklyn.

With court-side seats, a jumbotron shout-out and joining the Nets dancers in throwing swag into the crowd, it looked like a great night!  “Best date ever” were John’s exact words. It was pretty cool of Genie to keep her word and take him on a night out. 😃

Moral of the story: Anything is possible if you ask!!!

Genie and The City

Why oh why did they go to a Brooklyn Nets game and not go see the Toronto Raptors?

Genie has been honoured as one of three tennis players featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue for 2017! Caroline Wozniacki is making her third straight appearance for the magazine while Serena Williams has made numerous features over the years. Before Genie’s Twitter date, she was in New York helping to promote this year’s issue. Click here to read what the three stars had to say about being chosen for the magazine.

Genie will now continue with training and return to the courts in Acapulco, Mexico, beginning February 27.
