If you’re looking for some Monday motivation to get through the rest of the week, look no further than Rebecca Marino.
Playing in her first tournament in over four years, the 27-year-old won three qualifying matches over the weekend, losing a total of ten games in the process to earn a place in the main draw of the $15,000 GD Tennis Cup in Antalya, Turkey.
Marino will play her first round match on Wednesday against fellow qualifier Sina Zuger of Switzerland. She finds herself in the same section of the draw as top-seeded Romanian Nicoleta-Catalina Dascalu and third-seeded Gerogia Andreea Craciun, also of Romania.
Marino announced in October that she would be making a return to the pro tour after revealing her battle with depression in February of 2013. ITF administrative regulations delayed her return until this week, but she is ready to go with a series of $15,000 tournaments in Antalya.
