Canadian Samuel Monette hoisted his first ITF Futures singles trophy on Sunday at The Club @ White Oaks in Niagara, following a 6-3, 7-6(4) defeat of No. 1 seed Sam Barry in the $25,000 Bruno Agostinelli Futures final.

The 23-year-old Montreal native recorded six aces throughout his second career Futures final. The contest took a clean 90 minutes before Monette triumphed in the tie-break to take the title over his Irish opponent.

The singles trophy wasn’t the only piece of hardware that Monette picked up this weekend. He also captured the doubles crown in Niagara alongside American Nicholas Hu. The top-seeded pair faces off against American Gary Kushnirovich and Yanais Laurent of France.

Monette and Hu posted a 6-0, 6-2 win in Saturday’s doubles final. It is the second career ITF Futures doubles trophy for Monette, and his first of 2017.

The $25,000 ITF Pro Circuit tournament is in it’s second year, and is named for former tennis coach, player, and Niagara Falls native Bruno Agostinelli Jr. The tournament ran from September 18-24 at the Club @ White Oaks in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  For complete scores, full draws and results, please visit the official tournament website here.
