NADIR MOHAMED – Director
Nadir Mohamed is the former President and CEO of Rogers Communications Inc. He retired in December 2013. Rogers Communications is a diversified communications and media company with the largest wireless and cable business in Canada and leading media and sports brands.
Mr. Mohamed began his communications career more than 30 years ago and joined Rogers Communications in August 2000. He was appointed President and CEO of Rogers Wireless in 2001 and was appointed President and COO of Rogers Communications Group in 2005. Mr. Mohamed was unanimously appointed by the RCI Board of Directors to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Rogers Communications in March 2009 succeeding the late company founder Ted Rogers.
Mr. Mohamed has a rich background, and a strong passion for making a difference in the community. He moved to Canada from East Africa in 1971 and has appreciated the significant opportunities afforded to him and his family. He in turn looks to contribute to advancing Canada’s digital agenda through initiatives like Ryerson’s Digital Media Zone and the Next 36, a unique program that transforms Canada’s most promising students into successful entrepreneurs. He continues to be an active member of Young Presidents’ Organization / World Presidents’ Organization and the Chief Executives Organization.
Mr. Mohamed was named by Bloomberg as one of the world’s most successful immigrants and in October 2013 he was honoured by the UN Association in Canada at their 2013 Global Citizens Dinner.
Mr. Mohamed graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He earned his C.A. designation in 1981 and was awarded his FCA designation in 2010.
