A round-up of our favourite tennis Twitter personalities

Serving an ace status in 140 characters or less can prove to be just as hard as serving one up on the court.  But trust us, there are a few online tennis personalities out there that are championing the web. From charming and witty to fun and factual, here’s a list of our top ten favourite tennis Twitter accounts that are likely posting something incredibly interesting or entertaining (in some instances a little bit of the former and the latter) right this second:

Account: Andrea Petkovic, @andreapetkovic

Bio: German beer makes things okay.

Why it’s an ACE: She’s so cool it hurts. Period. Post-injury, the beloved, Andrea Petkovic, finally re-secured a place in the top ten this year for the first time since 2012.  Though her ranking on the court has wavered over the years, her social media prowess has continued to soar.  Pop-culturally relevant and endearingly transparent, Petkovic’s account reads like her inner-dialogue, and it’s nothing shy of amusing (and totally addictive!)

Account: Vasek Pospisil, @VasekPospisil

Bio: Canadian professional tennis player.

Why it’s an ACE: Do you like chipotle? He likes chipotle! Do you like cool indie bands? He likes cool indie bands! Do you play guitar? He plays guitar! Do you like incredibly nice, ultra-humble, and gracious-to-a-fault humans? Well then, you’ve found your soulmate on Twitter. Constantly thanking his fans for support and virtually inviting them into all of his off-court adventures, it’s hard not to walk away from reading Canadian homegrown, Pospisil’s account without thinking he’s your closest friend!

Account: Rogers Cup Toronto, @RogersCup & Coupe Rogers, @CoupeRogers

Bio: The #RogersCup presented by National Bank is a #WTA Premier 5 event and will be held from August 8-16, 2015 at Rexall Centre in Toronto.   |  La #CoupeRogers présentée par Banque Nationale aura lieu du 7 au 16 août 2015 au STADE IGA à Montréal. Venez voir Novak, Roger, Rafa, Milos, Vasek et cie!

Why it’s an ACE: With TV schedule updates for all ATP tournaments, reliable player info, and the latest and greatest in tennis news, this pair of tournament accounts are the best go-to for everything tennis.  Did we mention all of the links to must-read articles and the #ThrowbackThursdays to old footage? Both these feeds are a tennis archive goldmine!

Account: Not Roger Federer, @PseudoFed

Bio: Humble tennis player. Everybody says the best player ever and I like to agree. All opinions and tweets are #humble™ (Parody Account).

Why it’s an ACE: Safe to say, if you have at least one funny bone in your body coupled with an appreciation for the sport, you will thoroughly enjoy this account. Sprinkled with witty, humble brags and daily musings on the game, winning, fashion, and spectator spottings, it’s highly unlikely that you will ever watch a grand slam tournament again without checking in on Not Roger Federer for a quick laugh.

Account: Roger Federer, @RogerFederer

Bio: Professional tennis player.

Why it’s an ACE: While we do adore @PseudoFed, we enjoy a daily dose of the ‘Verified’ Roger Federer just as much.  No stranger to the airplane emoji (and emojis in general for that matter), Federer’s account reads just as wanderlusty as a collector’s edition of ‘Must-See Destinations’ from Lonely Planet.  A pro behind a camera lens, from waterfront sunsets to beautiful cityscapes, Federer proves to have a skill-set that reaches far beyond his serve.  He’s also quite funny.

Account: Stephanie Myles, @OpenCourt

Bio: Sports lover. Sports player. Sports writer. Yahoo! sports correspondent.

Why it’s an ACE: A Canadian journalist with the best seat in the house at Grand Slams, you do not want to miss the insider peeks and commentary from Myles.  With candid, surreally close photos (it’s like she is literally on the court) and minute-to-minute play-by-plays, reading her feed is like watching a match in real time.

Account: NikeCourt, @NikeTennis

Bio: Serving you the complete ceremony of Tennis, from performance to lifestyle, this is your inside access.

Why it’s an ACE: While your brand allegiance may forever lie with Prince, Wilson, or Head when it comes to your equipment and on-court attire, you will be completely forgiven if you check in with @NikeTennis, if only for the photography.  Boasting a colourful collage of inspiring player photos and quotes, this feed feels more like you’re perusing the who’s who of tennis and less like you’ve stumbled upon a consumer brand’s account.

Account: Sharon Fichman, @sharon_fichman

Bio: Professional Tennis Player – Classy, sassy and a bit smart assy. Don’t follow me, I’m lost too.

Why it’s an ACE: While this beloved Canadian’s bio suggests otherwise, she’s definitely worth the follow! Cheeky, sweet, and a whole whack of inspiring, Fichman’s training photos coupled with her motivational quote tweets are the best way to get pumped up before conquering your own morning work-out routine.

Account: Greg Sharko, @SharkoTennis

Bio: Bringing you the latest information & statistics on the @ATPWorldTour.

Why it’s an ACE: If you love stats, sandwiched in stats, piled on top of stats, this account is definitely for you.  Boasting match by match updates with interesting factoids, Greg Sharko’s Twitter is a go-to for tennis writers and commentators alike. One better, with all of these newfound fun facts, you’ll be a surefire hit at your next tennis social.
