Canadian teens Bianca Andreescu and Carson Branstine are turning heads this week at the National Bank Cup presented by IGA.

The 17-year-olds are using their youthful exuberance and most importantly, their impressive play to earn news fans in Quebec City. They’re into the doubles semifinals at the WTA International Series event after knocking out the decorated Czech team of Lucie Hradecka and Barbora Krejcikova 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 in front of an appreciative crowd last night at PEPS.

In just their second WTA tournament together, Andreescu and Branstine will face Irina Falconi and Fanny Stollar on Saturday for a spot in the final. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that they are having success this quickly at the pro level. The pair has won two junior Grand Slam doubles titles this season alone at the Australian Open and Roland-Garros and could have completed a junior doubles calendar slam had Andreescu remained a junior. At Rogers Cup in Toronto last month, Branstine and Andreescu upset another accomplished team in Kristina Mladenovic and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Let’s see if they can add a first WTA final their list of 2017 achievements.
