For the second consecutive week, a Canadian junior has reached the final at one of the most prestigious year-end tournaments.
Bianca Andreescu (Mississuga, Ontario) will play for the championship on Sunday at the U18 Metropolia Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships, a Grade A event in Plantation, Florida, after a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over No. 2 seed Dalma Galfi in the semifinals on Saturday.
Andreescu, seeded No. 9, also posted a come from behind win on Friday in the quarter-finals where she was down a set and 5-2 before mounting an impressive comeback to take the second and third sets for a spot in the final four.
The 15-year old will face No. 6 seeded American Kayla Day in the final on Sunday.
This performance comes a week after fellow Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime captured the Grade 1 Eddie Herr event in Florida.
