Canada is home to some of the best juniors in the world and they’re heading off to Australia this week to get their 2016 seasons started.

Six of Canada’s players inside the Top 50 on the ITF junior world rankings will be beginning their years Down Under. This includes world No. 4 Bianca Andreescu, No. 8 Felix Auger-Aliassime, No. 8 Charlotte Robillard-Millette, No. 23 Benjamin Sigouin, No. 29 Katherine Sebov, and No. 48 Jack Mingjie Lin.

The first Slam of the year for the juniors will begin on January 23 at Melbourne Park. Before the Junior Australian Open is the Loy Yang Traralgon Junior International in Traralgon, located under two hours east of Melbourne. Classified as a Grade 1 tournament, it is just one level before the Slams and will take place January 16-21.

It is the first trip to Australia for most of the juniors, but a few have experience in the country. Last year, Sebov won the Traralgon tournament while Robillard-Millette made the Junior Australian Open quarter-finals.
