Felix Auger-Aliassime was crowned champion of the Eddie Herr International Championships on Sunday, a Grade 1 ITF junior event in Bradenton, Florida.
The 15-year-old Canadian saved three match points en route to a 6-3, 6-7(6), 7-6(3) victory over Aussie Alex De Minaur, ranked no. 21 on the ITF junior rankings. Auger-Aliassime is the first Canadian since 2011 to win an Eddie Herr title and the first to take home a U18 singles trophy.
This is Auger-Aliassime’s second Grade 1 title of the season and fourth overall. The win moves him up to a career-high of no. 18 on the ITF junior rankings.
