Genie Bouchard produced the performance of her season in Luxembourg on Wednesday, blitzing past No. 3 seed Carla Suarez Navarro 6-1, 6-0 in just 53 minutes.
The Canadian, who had come through qualifying and defeated Timea Babos in the first round of the WTA International event, was relentless from the start and never took her pedal off the gas. Suarez Navarro struggled with her serve throughout the match, allowing Bouchard to go on the offensive in each of her return games.
After surrendering just one game in the opening set, Bouchard went on an offensive onslaught, winning 10 straight points with 10 straight winners to start the second.

Dominant on both return and serve, the 24-year-old finished the match with an incredible 22 winners to, remarkably, just six unforced errors. Bouchard face just two break points in the match but was able to save both, finishing with an 86% win percentage behind her first serve.
The win puts Bouchard back into the world’s Top 100 for the first time since January earlier this year, all but securing her entry into the main draw of the Australian Open next season. It’s been a year of ups and downs for Bouchard, but with her win over Suarez Navarro – who reached two Grand Slam quarterfinals this year and is currently ranked No.24 – she’ll be feeling confident heading into 2019.
Up next for Bouchard is either Andrea Petkovic or Katerina Siniakova for a place in the Luxembourg Open semifinals.
