Get your coffee ready because we’re in for a late night/early morning depending on your preference because Genie Bouchard will play her second round match at the Australian Open on Margaret Court Arena against World No. 1 Simona Halep beginning at 3 a.m. E.T. on TSN 1 and 4.

The 23-year-old Canadian has one win over the Romanian in their three previous meetings (all in 2014) and it was a big one, in the Wimbledon semifinals. Actually, the scenario tonight is similar to the one for that match over three years ago. Halep played after rolling her ankle which she will do again tonight after incurring the same injury in her first round match two days ago.

Halep’s two wins against Bouchard came outdoors on hard at Indian Wells and indoors on hard at the WTA Finals in Singapore.

Regardless of Halep’s status, Bouchard will be in with a fighting chance if she’s able to maintain the form she showed in her opening round victory over Oceane Dodin.  She will be looking to reach the third round in Melbourne for second straight year and fourth time in her career.
