Gabriela Dabrowski is the lone Canadian remaining at the Australian Open as week two shifts into high gear in Melbourne.
On Sunday night, the Ottawa native reached the women’s doubles quarter-finals alongside her partner Yifan Xu thanks to a 7-6(6), 6-1 victory over Shuko Aoyama of Japan and Zhaoxuan Yang of China. The pair, who improved to 8-1 on the season including a title in Sydney, will face the second-seeded Russian team of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina on Monday night for a spot in the semifinals.
Dabrowski is also still alive in mixed doubles with Mate Pavic of Croatia. They will meet the Dutch duo of Demi Schuurs and Jean-Julien Roger for a spot in the final eight.
