The youngest man inside the Emirates ATP Rankings Top 100 is also the youngest player inside the Top 50.

18-year-old Denis Shapovalov, who began the season at no. 250, has had a lot to celebrate in the latter half of the 2017 season. His original year-end ranking goal, to finish inside the Top 150, was achieved in the summer US Open Series.

A stellar run to the semifinals at Coupe Rogers and a fourth round finish at the US Open propelled the Richmond Hill teen into the Top 100 for the first time in his career. It wasn’t too long until Shapovalov altered his year-end goal to the Top 50.

Shapovalov achieved his goal – yet again – on Monday, October 9.

Shapovalov will continue to build on his ranking, beginning at the Shanghai Rolex Masters this week. He opens against Serbia’s Viktor Troicki in the opening round on Tuesday, approximately 4 a.m. E.T.

Shapovalov currently sits in the no. 4 spot in the ATP’s Race to Milan Next Gen Finals, which is scheduled to begin on November 7.
