Down to eight at the U14 Nationals

The quarter-finals are set at the U14 Indoor Rogers Junior Nationals currently underway at the Hollyburn Country Club in Vancouver, BC.

Seven of the eight remaining players in the boys singles draw are from Ontario or Quebec with the only exception being second-seeded Luka Vukovic of British Columbia. He will face Nick Lagaev of Ontario in the quarter-finals. Top-seeded Liam Draxl of Ontario, last year’s U12 national champion, will take on Quebec’s Alex-Antoine Marquis. The other two quarter-final matches will see Daniel Fainblum take on Nicolas Ocana-Lavoie and Sébastien Collard battle Taha Baadi.

Meanwhile, the final eight in the girls singles draw features last week’s U16 indoor national champion Leylah Annie Fernandez of Quebec. She will face last week’s U12 national champion Daria Tomashevskaya of Ontario in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, top-seeded Sofiya Babych will next play Ariana Arsenault. Rounding out the top half will be Viktoriya Tabunshchyk against Jada Bui and Alexandra Arkhipov taking on Layne Sleeth in the bottom half.
