The ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships set to get underway on Sunday in Miami, Florida. On the heels of senior and super-senior world championship events being played over the past few months, it’s time for the best 35-45 players across the globe to hit the courts for the biggest tournament of the year.
Canada will be represented in all six categories (men’s and women’s 35, 40, and 45 age categories) and the teams will be looking to better their results from last year which was highlighted by a third place finish for our men’s 45+ squad.
Five of the 24 players wearing Canadian colours are national champions including Christina Popescu (women’s 35+ singles and doubles), Leigh Bradwell (women’s 35+ doubles), Henry Choi (men’s 35+ singles), Olivier Borlée (men’s 45+ singles and doubles, and Joachim Nierfield (men’s 45+ doubles).
Following the team event, our Canadian players will compete in the ITF Young Seniors World Individual Championships from October 27 to November 3.
