KARL HALE TAKES ON JIM COURIER IN EXHIBITION
May 2, 2014

Karl Hale, tournament director of Rogers Cup presented by National Bank in Toronto and the head professional at Donalda Club, faced off against former world No. 1 Jim Courier at an exhibition event at Tryall Club in Jamaica last week.

Courier prevailed in a spectacular shot-making exhibition 6-4, coming back from a break down at the 3-2 mark. The exhibition raised funds for tennis programs for inner-city children in Kingston, Jamaica. Over 200 participants were on hand to watch the great display of tennis, with the event supported by Stonegate Private Counsel and Hi Lyte soft drinks.

The Hale vs. Courier event was part of a week-long celebration of tennis at Tryall Club. The week began with a clinic that included 35 people, and featured both an ITF seniors and junior tournament that had over 100 total participants. Plans are on for the second annual event April 21-27, 2015. The funds raised next year will go towards building a basic school in Hanover, Jamaica.
