Daniel Nestor and French partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin had their run at the Shanghai Rolex Masters end on Saturday, falling to No. 5-seeded Italian tandem Simone Bolleli and Fabio Fognini 5-7, 7-6(5), 10-3 in the semifinals.
It was a close match, lasting one hour and 47 minutes. Nestor and Roger-Vasselin, seeded No. 7, had several opportunities to try and take the duel in two sets, but Bolelli and Fognini were able to save eight of the nine break chances they faced in the second set to force the match tiebreaker.
Nestor and Roger-Vasselin just miss out on making their second straight final, while Bolelli and Fognini move into the Masters 1000 event’s championship match to face South African-Brazilian pair Raven Klaasen and Marcelo Melo.
With the loss, Nestor’s career win total remains at 996 matches.
