Peter Polansky and Brayden Schnur both opened with wins at the Houghton Boston Tennis Classic in Saskatoon on Wednesday. They join fellow Canadians Denis Shapovalov and Kevin Kylar in the second round at the $15,000 ITF Pro Circuit Futures event.
No. 8 seed Schnur defeated Hunter Nicholas in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to book his spot in round two. He will face Raymond Sarmiento of the United States on Thursday on Centre Court. It took No. 4 seed Polansky three sets to defeat Nicholas S. Hu 2-6, 7-6(2), 6-4. He will face American Zack McCourt on Thursday.
Shapovalov will open day four on Centre Court when he goes head-to-head with No. 3 seed Andre Dome, while Kylar will face No. 2 seed Matt Reid of Australia on Thursday.
Canadian Alexander Day fell in the first round to Alexios Halebian 6-4, 6-3 on Wednesday.
