Vasek Pospisil (Vancouver) has advanced into the second round of Open 13, an ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Marseille, thanks to a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Dutchman Robin Haase on Tuesday.
Finishing in just over two hours, Pospisil blasted 16 aces in the win and was able save eight of the nine break points he faced throughout the match.
Currently ranked world No. 60, Pospisil will next face No. 4 seed Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain.
Also competing in Marseille is Milos Raonic (Thornhill, Ont.) and Adil Shamasdin (Pickering, Ont.) Raonic has a first-round bye in singles while Shamasdin is paired with Aussie Rameez Junaid in doubles.
