Vasek Pospisil advanced into the second round of the Valencia Open in Spain following a 6-4, 6-3 opening triumph over Santiago Giraldo on Monday.
The 25-year-old Canadian served nine aces and didn’t face a single break point through the 70-minute match. He broke Giraldo once per set for the clean victory, extending his unbeaten record over the Colombian to 4-0.
Next up for the No. 43-ranked Pospisil at the ATP World Tour 250 event will be the winner of the match between Brit Aljaz Bedene and No. 8 seed Jeremy Chardy of France.
