Milos Raonic won two on matches on Friday to reach the semifinals of the China Open in Beijing, China, an ATP 500 event.
The 25-year-old Canadian started the day with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Malek Jaziri of Turkey to advance to the quarter-finals where he beat Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta 6-4, 6-4 despite getting treatment on his ankle twice in the match.
In Saturday’s semifinals, Raonic will face Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria who topped Rafael Nadal in the quarters. Dimitrov has won three of the four career meetings between the two.
With his two wins, Raonic moves into fourth place in the race for one of eight spots into the ATP Finals in London.
Meanwhile in doubles, Gabriela Dabrowski and her partner Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez moved into the semifinals in Beijing thanks to a 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Julia Goerges and Karolina Pliskova.
