Brayden Schnur continued his run at the $15,000 Richmond Country Club Futures on Wednesday, advancing to the quarter-finals. Fellow Canadians Philip Bester and Tommy Mylnikov will look to join him as second-round play continues at the Richmond Country Club in British Columbia on Thursday.
Schnur, the No. 7 seed, defeated compatriot Henry Choi in three sets 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-3 to book his spot in the final eight. He will face American Alexios Halebian next. Also advancing into the quarter-finals were No. 3 seed Marcos Giron, No. 4 seed Farris Fathi Gosea and Halebian.
Mylnikov and Bester will play on Thursday for their shot at the quarter-finals. Mylnikov will go head-to-head with Kaichi Uchida of Japan followed by No. 1 seed Bester’s match-up with American Eric James Johnson.
In the doubles draw, No. 1 seeds Bester and Matt Seeberger defeated Johnson and Johnny Wang in straight sets 7-5, 6-1. Bester is last Canadian standing in the doubles draw after Dylan Bednarczyk and Riaan Du Toit fell to No. 2 seeds Keith-Patrick Crowley and Hans Hach 6-2, 6-2. Bester and Seeberger will face No. 4 seeds Hunter Nicholas and Raymond Sarmiento in the semifinals on Thursday.
