Eugenie Bouchard’s impressive run at the Sydney International came to an end in Thursday’s semifinals at the hands of world no. 10 Johanna Konta.

The Brit was virtually flawless throughout the match, hitting with power and precision en route to a 6-2, 6-2 win, including a run of seven games in a row.

Despite the loss, Bouchard’s last warm up event before the Australian Open proved fruitful as she posted three wins over Top 30 players in the same tournament for the first time since 2014.

Bouchard will now head to Melbourne for the first Grand Slam event of the season which begins Sunday. The draw will be conducted tonight.

In Australian Open qualifying, Françoise Abanda joined her compatriot Peter Polansky in the second round thanks to a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Aussie Storm Sanders. She will next face American Taylor Townsend while Polansky will meet Mirza Basic of Bosnia.
