Two Canadians remain in action at the Odlum Brown VanOpen.

Carol Zhao continued her impressive summer form with another win in Vancouver. The Richmond Hill native and former Stanford Cardinal came from behind to defeat Yanina Wickmayer 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 in one hour, 42 minutes. Zhao got the critical break at 4-4 in the third set and, when serving for the win, had to rally from 15-40 down. She won four points in a row to claim her spot in the quarterfinals.

Next, Zhao will face no. 4 seed Ons Jabeur.

In an almost identical situation, wildcard Brayden Schnur recovered from a set down to defeat sixth seed Taro Daniel 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 in just over two hours. The Toronto native served seven aces and held a first service percentage at 67% for the match. He saved 5/7 break points on his serve while converting 3/11 of his break opportunities.

Schnur will now face no. 2 seed Jason Thompson in the quarterfinals.

In doubles, Philip Bester played his final professional match as he and partner Marius Copil fell 7-5, 7-6(5) to James Cerretani and Neal Skupski in the quarterfinals. Aleksandra Wozniak and her partner Kaitlyn Christian also fell in their quarterfinal to top seeds Eri Hozumi and Miyu Kato 6-0, 6-2.
