Milos Raonic has called it quits on the 2017 season but the big-serving Canadian will return to the tennis court in December for the Mubadala World Tennis Championship (MWTC), an exhibition event in Abu Dhabi.

The MWTC is celebrating its tenth anniversary and has a stellar incoming line-up.

Raonic will return among other big names that cut their season short due to injury – 12-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic and three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka. World no. 1 and four-time MWTC champ Rafael Nadal will also take part in the exhibition along with Dominic Thiem and Pablo Carreno Busta.

This will be the third consecutive year that Raonic participates in the pre-season exhibition (2015-2017). In the past he has used these matches to prepare for the season ahead. In 2016 he defeated Stan Wawrinka at the MWTC before taking him out in five sets at the Australian Open a few weeks later.

The event will no doubt draw massive interest this year with the return of Djokovic, Wawrinka and Raonic – three of the top 5 ranked players in 2016 that have since seen their rankings fall as a result of an injury-filled 2017.

As these players return, 16-time Grand Slam champion Nadal, Roland Garros semifinalist Thiem and US Open semifinalist Carreno Busta will try to extend their good 2017 fortune into the final days of the year.

The MWTC runs from December 28-30, 2017. Raonic will head straight to Brisbane from there to kick-start his 2018 season.
