Tennis Canada and the Provincial Tennis Associations formalized a national ranking committee to oversee the rules, regulations, operations, and overall ranking management. The committee, composed of provincial members from each of the 6 national regions, recently met to review the Rogers Rankings. The purpose of the meeting was to analyze the overall feedback and player point trends, both nationally and provincially. The group agreed that operationally, the Rogers Rankings have been working as expected; player points are calculating correctly and players are fluctuating based on their results. Additionally, the group agreed that the Rogers Rankings accurately represents the provincial positioning of players; however, the correlation of players between provinces needs to be adjusted to better reflect accuracy across the country. As a result, the national ranking committee will conduct a full audit of players during mid-November and mid-December, with the main objective being to identify and adjust uncorrelated ranking points between provinces. While the logistics of a head-to-head system suggest that such variances will be worked out over time, the committee feels that manually adjusting these players at this time will lead to shared benefits for all involved. The goal of the committee is to have an approved and implemented audit by mid December, 2009.

Over the course of the audit, Rogers Ranking updates will not be included until point adjustments are approved by the committee. Upon approval, all tournaments held from November 13th to mid December will be calculated for rankings based on the new audited rankings. Due to the implications of the audit, results in 2010 and onwards will be used for initializing players.
