A trio of Canadians continue to make waves at the 36th ITF Super Seniors World Individual Championships. Kenneth Dahl, Inge Weber, and Rosemarie Asch are all in contention to capture titles in their respective divisions in Umag, Croatia.

Asch advanced into the final of the women’s over-85 draw on Wednesday with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Wies Schuitemaker-Spuyman of the Netherlands. Asch enters the championship match versus Australia’s Margaret Fisher having only dropped one game in the competition so far. On Friday, the No. 2 seed squares off against Fisher as she looks to add to her impressive trophy cabinet.

Asch turns 86 in November and is currently the reigning champion of the over-85 category. Last year, Asch wowed on the world stage and picked up three gold medals – sweeping the over-85 singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events.

Here is Asch on match point in her 2015 women’s doubles final:

This year, Asch is well on her way to defending those three crowns. She has teamed up with her opponent from the upcoming singles final, Margaret Fisher, for the women’s over-80 doubles and remained with last year’s teammate, fellow Canadian Lorne Main, in the over-85 mixed doubles category. Asch plays in semifinal matches for both events on Thursday.

In other results, Inge Weber defeated Australia’s Joyce Rogers 6-2, 6-0 in the women’s over-80 quarter-finals. Next, Weber will compete in the semifinals versus the No. 6 seed Alma Acourt of Great Britain.

While facing a tough competitor in Acourt, Weber is not to be intimidated by the No. 6 seed. Earlier in the week, she ousted the No. 2 seed Burnett Herrick, and she has two prior world championships under her belt (2012 and 2014).

Vancouver’s Kenneth Dahl also advanced on Wednesday. The No. 16 seed secured his spot in the men’s over-70 quarter-finals with a win over No. 6 seed Antonio Claudi. Dahl led his Italian opponent 6-2, 1-0 before Claudi defaulted, allowing Dahl to advance.
