Canadian Denis Shapovalov prepared for junior Wimbledon by winning his first junior title of the season at the ITF Grade 1 event in Roehampton, England.
Shapovalov did not lose a set all tournament and defeated Yosuke Watanuki of Japan 6-1, 6-4 in the final on Saturday. A semifinalist at Roland-Garros, the 17-year-old has also won the first three pro Futures titles of his career in 2016. Shapovalov has 39 wins at the pro level this year and is ranked no. 374 in the world.
Shapovalov will now switch his attention to junior Wimbledon where he will meet a qualifier in the first round. French Open finalist Félix Auger-Aliassime, Benjamin Sigouin, Bianca Andreescu, and Charlotte Robillard-Millette will join Shapovalov in the junior draws at the All-England Club.
