After a breakthrough season in 2017, Gabriela Dabrowski has carried that momentum into 2018, capturing her first doubles title of the year and sixth WTA crown of her career on Thursday night at the Sydney International.
Dabrowski and her partner Xu Yifan, seeded third in the tournament, beat the top two teams in the semifinals and final en route to the title, defeating the top-seeded duo of Latisha Chan of the Chinese Taipei and Czech Andrea Sestini Hlavackova 6-3, 6-1 in the championship match.

This is Dabrowski and Xu’s third title together after claiming top honours in Miami and New Haven in 2017, results that allowed them to qualify for the WTA Finals in Singapore for the first time.
The pair will be hoping their Sydney success helps propel them to their first Grand Slam crown at the Australian Open.
