Valentine’s Day is almost here and it’s time to celebrate the love you have… for tennis! 57% of Canadians have an interest in tennis, and new players have increased two-fold in the past decade. We’re not surprised – the passion we see in the tennis community continues to amaze us. What better way to celebrate that passion than taking a look at some of the reasons you love tennis this Valentine’s Day:
1. Friendship
The friendships you make playing tennis are strong. You’re bound to meet like-minded people seeking to improve their health and challenge themselves every time they step on the court. Tennis friendships make you better.
2. Fitness
Tennis is good for the body. It’s a great cardio workout that builds all-over muscle tone, balance and coordination.
3. Mental strength
Tennis is good for the mind too. Tennis constantly presents you with opportunities to focus, to overcome obstacles and to rise to the occasion with grace and perseverance.
4. Stress relief
Tennis is great stress relief. Rather than turning to a box of cupcakes or hours of Netflix, tennis is a healthy way to keep your stress levels in check.
5. Anyone can play
Tennis is a sport for all ages. It’s great for the whole family and it’s something you can start playing as a kid and play all the way through to your senior years.
6. Community
Tennis players are a special breed and although we are competitive, we support and challenge each other in the best possible ways. When you take up tennis you become part of a community, and there’s nothing better than that.
