Canada’s top two junior male players are just one win from claiming their maiden Slam titles as Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov reached the Junior US Open doubles final with a victory in New York on Friday.

The promising young duo ousted Greek-German pair Stefanos Tsitsipas and Louis Wessels 6-4, 6-4 in 56 minutes. The victory makes them the first Canadians to compete for a junior Slam title since Carol Zhao won the 2013 Junior Australian Open title with Croatian Ana Konjuh.

Both Auger-Aliassime, 15 years old, and Shapovalov, 16, are into their first Slam finals. For world No. 26 Auger-Aliassime, this was his first-ever Slam tournament while No. 53 Shapovalov is competing in his third. They will now be aiming to become the 10th and 11th Canadians, in singles or doubles, to win a junior Slam crown.

In the final, the all-Canadian pair will face all-American team Brandon Holt and Riley Smith.
