Both the girls’ and boys’ draws are down to the final eight at the U12 Rogers Indoor Junior National Championships following play on Wednesday, with top seeds Ashton Cross and Daria Tomashevskaya of Ontario still in contention at the Tennis Academy in Calgary.

In the girls’ event, Tomashevskaya will be challenged by Quebec’s Juliette Begin in the quarter-finals. The top seed has yet to lose a set in the tournament. Rounding out the quarter-final field is Ontario’s Rachel Krzyzak against British Columbian Chloe Suh Yoo, Albertan Emma Rutherford versus Dasha Plekhanova of Ontario, and Danielle Tuhten of BC opposite Quebecer Melodie Collard.

On the boys’ side, Cross – who has only lost seven games through four matches so far – will take on David Gauberg of Ontario for a place in the semifinals. The other quarter-finals will pit Ontarian Stefano Liokossis against Alberta’s Ghouse Faisal, Quebecer Jaden Weekes versus Marko Stakusic of Ontario, and Maxime St-Hilaire of Quebec against Ontario’s Akhil Malik.
