Peter Polansky qualified for the main draw of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California on Wednesday night.
The Canadian defeated Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to move through to the main draw at the ATP Masters 1000 event alongside Vasek Pospisil and Milos Raonic. Pospisil will play American Jared Donaldson in the opening round while Raonic gets a bye. Philip Bester lost his first match 6-4, 6-2 to Jozef Kovalik.
On the women’s side, Eugenie Bouchard will play her opening match under the lights on Centre Court at 10 p.m. E.T. Thursday night against qualifier Risa Ozaki. For her part, Aleksandra Wozniak was defeated in the second round of qualies on Tuesday 6-4, 6-2 by Kiki Bertens of New Zealand.
