Vasek Pospisil was ousted from the Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, falling to No. 2 seed Feliciano Lopez of Spain 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-2 in the quarter-finals.
It was a close two-hour match with No. 8 seed Pospisil taking the opening set in a tiebreaker after neither player offered up even a single break point. But Lopez remained steady through the whole duel, only facing one break point all match-long while Pospisil ultimately lost his serve four times.
Lopez moves on to face No. 7-seeded Aussie Nick Kyrgios in the semifinals, while Pospisil will turn his attention to the China Open in Beijing next week.
