After qualifying for the main draw over the weekend, Vasek Pospisil advanced to the second round of the ATP Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati on Monday.
The 25-year-old was a 6-4, 6-3 winner in a little more than an hour over fellow qualifier Denis Kudla of the United States.
Pospisil sets up a fun encounter with Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov in the second round. Dimitrov has won their two previous meetings in Miami earlier this year and at Basel last season.
Pospisil is also playing doubles with American Jack Sock this week.
For his part, ninth-seeded Milos will open against Spaniard Feliciano Lopez on Tuesday while Eugenie Bouchard will face off against qualifier Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine.
