It’s down to the final four at the U12 Rogers Indoor Junior National Championships at the Tennis Academy in Calgary, with the boys’ and girls’ semifinals set following play on Thursday.

The top seeds in both draws remain in contention with No. 1 Daria Tomashevskaya of Ontario ousting Quebecer Juliette Begin 6-0, 6-0 in the girls’ quarter-finals and Ashton Cross taking care of David Gauberg in a battle of Ontarians 6-0, 6-4 in the boys’ round of eight.

Tomashevskaya will now face fellow Ontario resident Rachel Krzyzak for a place in the final, while Cross will try to see off Alberta’s Ghouse Faisal in the semifinals.

Rounding out the girls’ semifinals is No. 2 seed Melodie Collard of Quebec – a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Danielle Tuhten of British Columbia – versus No. 3 Dasha Plekhanova of Ontario, who captured a 6-3, 6-1 quarter-final triumph opposite Emma Rutherford of Ontario.

The second boys’ semifinal will pit No. 2 Akhil Malik on Ontario against No. 3 Marko Stakusic, also from Ontario. Malik was challenged in the quarters, managing a 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 win over Quebec’s Maxime St-Hilaire, while Stakusic eased into the semifinals 6-1, 6-1 over Jaden Weekes of Quebec.
