One of tennis’ rising stars Bianca Andreescu was named the 2017 Tennis Canada Female Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Andreescu has enjoyed a breakthrough season in which she’s climbed over 100 spots in the WTA rankings and set records, not only for herself but for Canadian tennis, as well. For instance, earlier this summer she became the youngest Canadian to win a WTA main draw match since Maureen Drake in 1988.
Andreescu began to turn heads at the very start of the season. She made the girls semi-finals at the Australian Open, won the doubles title with Carson Branstine and then was awarded the Fed Cup Heart Award in February after going undefeated in Fed Cup action. The award honours players who have represented their country with distinction, shown exceptional courage on court and demonstrated outstanding commitment to their team. She donated her prize to Sick Kids Foundation.
The teenager continued to impress long after the early stages of the season. So now it’s time to test how well you followed one of Canada’s brightest young athletes with our quiz – So You Think You Know Bianca Andreescu, eh?
