The Serena Excitement Builds

A few days ago it was announced that Serena Williams would be competing at the National Bank Open in Toronto this coming August. From the moment the news broke, thousands of fans have responded with excitement and anticipation.

Along with the obvious excitement of the news, some Canadian fans began to wonder if this could be their last chance to see the great Serena Williams live.

This will be Serena’s 10th trip to Canada, and she has won the title three times (all in Toronto). Could it really be the last time? If it is, she has left her mark and provided fans with many unforgettable memories over the past two and half decades.

Hewitt Hall of Fame

While one legend continues her illustrious career, another tennis great was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Lleyton Hewitt, a two-time grand slam champion and former world No. 1 was inducted as part of the class of 2021 along with the late coach Dennis Van Der Meer and the “Original Nine”

As a player, the focus is on improving your game and winning matches. Although some players take time to envision their place in history, it’s not common to dream of one day being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Hewitt admitted he never saw himself one day being in this position. He may not have believed it was possible but he earned it.

Congratulations to Lleyton Hewitt on this well-deserved honor.

Swiatek & Radwanska Charity Match

Another retired player is in the news this week. Former world No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska has been seen on the practice courts with current world No. 1 Iga Swiatek.

The two Polish athletes are playing a charity match July 23rd as part of the Iga Swiatek & Friends for Ukraine charity event in Krakow, Poland.
