Tennis Canada's Screening Policy aims to protect the security, safety, and health of individuals associated with its tournaments, events, and activities by ensuring that those in positions of responsibility are trustworthy and by safeguarding the organization's assets and resources.

Summary:

Scope

  • Applies to all Tennis Canada personnel, including employees, students, interns, officials, independent contractors, and board members.
  • Special consideration is given to those working closely with vulnerable persons, particularly minors.

Risk Levels and Screening Requirements

Level 1 – Low Risk:

  • Positions with no unsupervised access to vulnerable persons.
  • Require an interview at hiring and annual Disclosure of Criminal Record.

Level 2 – Medium Risk:

  • Positions with limited contact with vulnerable persons in public settings.
  • Require an Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC) every three years, in addition to Level 1 requirements.

Level 3 – High Risk:

  • Positions with greater contact, supervised or unsupervised, with vulnerable persons.
  • Require a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) every three years, along with Level 1 requirements.

Implementation: All positions have detailed job descriptions to determine the appropriate risk level.
Personnel must comply with the screening requirements corresponding to their position's risk level.

Privacy Considerations: Tennis Canada respects the privacy rights of individuals and ensures that personal information obtained through screening is handled confidentially.
