
Simon Bartram joins Tennis Canada’s High Performance Team as Head of Toronto’s Regional Tennis Centre
On July 17, 2025, Simon Bartram was announced as the Head of the Regional Tennis Centre in Toronto.

In September 2007, Tennis Canada opened its doors to a full-time National Tennis Centre presented by Rogers (NTC) for the first time, under the leadership of world-renowned coach Louis Borfiga, who who ran a similar program for the French Tennis Federation,
Identified players between the ages of of 13-19 are provided with the training, coaching and resources necessary to succeed at the top levels of the sport. Operating national training centres is recognized as an international best practice where players can be regrouped in one location to hone their technical, physical and tactical fundamentals, garner top level international competitive experiences, manage life on the junior circuit as a precursor to the professional tours, and develop team identity and values to represent Canada on the international stage.

Many of Canada’s top players (aged 15-19) live, train and attend school full-time at IGA Stadium in Montreal with the goal of becoming a Top 50 player on the WTA and ATP Tours.

In addition to the National Tennis Centre presented by Rogers in Montreal, three Regional Training Centres have been established in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. These centres serve as development hubs for promising U14 talent within their respective regions. Designed as supplementary training programs, they aim to support club leaders, personal coaches, and parents by enhancing the existing training and competition environments for top-performing young athletes.
Together, the four centres form a feeder system into the full-time National Tennis Centre (NTC), helping to identify and nurture the next generation of Canadian tennis talent.
