Building Lasting Change for Women and Girls in Canadian Tennis
How Tennis Canada increased representation across its organization
The Girls Leadership Program is a multi-week experience that aims to empower girls ages 14-17. It develops their leadership skills and helps them create a network of peers as they begin their career path in tennis and work towards their tennis instructor certification with the Tennis Professionals Association (TPA).
In 2024, The Tennis Canada Girls Leadership Program was successfully launched in British Columbia and Quebec, empowering 29 young women through leadership and tennis training.
"Not only did this program boost my confidence up, but I learned so many new leadership skills and tennis skills. This was such a fun program. I made new friends and I met so many new people!"
"In the Girls Leadership Program, I had the opportunity to develop my skills both on and off the court. Skills like confidence, perseverance and teamwork. And they all will help me be a better coach in the future!"
