The winners of the 2022 Under14 Fischer Indoor Nationals were crowned on Saturday April 9, 2022, as the boys’ and girls’ singles finals took place at the Osten & Victor Alberta Tennis Centre in Calgary, Alberta.
The Boys’ Championship Singles Final was a match between both No. 3 seeds in the draw, Gary Jiang against Miko Lapalme. The Quebec native, Lapalme cruised to victory with a 6-3, 6-1 straight sets win over Jiang of British Columbia. Lapalme’s route to the finals went through Ontario’s Dani Szabo (2-6, 6-1, 6-2) in the quarterfinals and fellow Quebec player Xavier Massotte (7-5, 4-6, 6-3) in the semi-finals.
The Girls’ Championship Singles Final was a match between the No. 1 seed, Nadia Lagaev of Ontario, against the No. 5 seed, Clémence Mercier of Quebec. Lagaev defeated Mercier in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0 to secure both singles and doubles titles at the 2022 U14 Fischer Indoor Junior Nationals. Lagaev did not drop a single set throughout the tournament.
The boys’ and girls’ doubles U14 championship matches were played on Friday April 8 at the Osten & Victor Alberta Tennis Centre. In the Boys’ Championship Doubles Match, No. 1 seeded team of Benjamin Azar and Miko Lapalme defeated the No. 4 seeded team of Adam Patry and Andy Tchinda Kepche 6-1, 6-3. In the Girls’ Championship Doubles Match the No. 1 seeded team of Lola Bean and Nadia Lagaev defeated the No. 2 seeded team of Laurence Demers and Andrea Katarina Taylor 6-1, 6-0.
