As Vasek turns 29 today, what better way to celebrate his birthday than by citing five of the many reasons why we are amped for his return!

1- He can compete with the best of the best

Vasek has given us some memorable moments on the court over the past few years, defeating the likes of Tomas Berdych, Richard Gasquet and Grigor Dimitrov. One match that sticks out in recent memory is his win over World No. 1 Andy Murray at Indian Wells.

After having to go through qualis and digging out a win in his first round match, Vasek found himself up against the top player in the world. Despite being the clear underdog, the Canadian stunned the tennis world with one of the best performances of his career.

2- He likes to have a laugh, even during a match

Tennis is a very individual sport, with players competing against one another on opposite sides of the court. But sometimes, despite all the tension, things can get a little… less serious.

In a match against American Denis Kudla at the Western and Southern Open in 2015, Vasek couldn’t help but break his concentration as music began blasting from Centre Court. Both players were able to have a good laugh.

3- He LOVES playing on home soil

Vasek loves Canada. He always plays well at Davis Cup and has had some of his best results playing on home soil. Everyone remembers his memorable run to the semi-finals at the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank in Montreal back in 2013.

The standout moment from that tournament came when he stunned then world no. 6 Tomas Berdych in an epic 3-set match on National Bank Court. With the full support of the crowd, he notched one of the most significant wins in his career and became an instant crowd favourite.

4- His speed

While he is known for his excellent net play and his quick hands, among many others, Vasek’s speed has always been a standout part of his game. Whether it’s chasing down a drop shot or running from one end of the court to the other, he always manages to get there.

Vasek’s determination to be in every single rally has produced a number of highlight-reel moments over the years. There’s a reason why we believe that anything is Pospisil!

5- His on-court emotions

Is there anything better than that moment right after a player realizes he has won the match? It’s a combination of excitement, relief and fatigue all at once.

And we would argue that no one does it better than Vasek. Although he is not known as one of the most vocal players on the court, he knows how to celebrate a victory.

For these reasons, and many many more, we are exciting to see our birthday boy back on court hopefully very soon!
